Instructions

Preparation

  • Line a baking sheet with wax paper, then set it aside.

White Chocolate Haystacks

  • Melt white chocolate chips in a medium, heatproof bowl in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds until smooth.
  • Stir in roasted peanuts, ⅔ cup of chow mein noodles, and ⅓ cup of marshmallows until evenly coated.
  • Drop two-tablespoon mounds onto the wax paper to form haystacks and immediately add candy eyeballs; repeat to make 6 haystacks.

Butterscotch Haystacks

  • Wipe the bowl clean, then melt butterscotch chips in the microwave; stir in 1 ½ Tbsp peanut butter until combined.
  • Add ⅔ cup of chow mein noodles and ⅓ cup of marshmallows to the butterscotch mixture, stir, and form 6 more haystacks.

Semi-Sweet Chocolate Haystacks & Setting

  • Repeat the melting, mixing, and forming process using the semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips and remaining ingredients.
  • Place the baking sheet in the fridge to cool and allow all the spooky haystacks to set completely.

Notes

Ensure chocolate is fully melted but not overheated for the best consistency. Work quickly when adding candy eyeballs before the haystacks set. Haystacks can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for longer freshness.
