  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water until a smooth mixture forms.
  • Gradually stir the cornstarch mixture into the cranberry compote, spoon by spoonful, allowing it to thicken into a syrupy consistency, then cool.
  • Slice the baguette into ¼ inch thick pieces.
  • Cut the brie cheese into ¼ inch slices that fit the baguette, noting that the rind is edible.
  • Arrange the baguette slices topped with brie onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake at 350°F for 5-8 minutes until the cheese is soft and slightly melted.
  • Remove from the oven and top each toast with a dollop of the cooled cranberry compote.
  • Serve the appetizer warm or at room temperature.
