  • 3 Tablespoons cornstarch divided
  • 1 pound flank steak cut into thin 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons light brown sugar packed
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger grated
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil divided
  • 4 cups broccoli florets small
  • 1/2 cup white onions sliced

Cooking Steps

  • Whisk 2 tablespoons cornstarch with 3 tablespoons water in a large bowl, then add and toss the beef to coat.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the remaining 1 tablespoon cornstarch with soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger to create the sauce; set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large nonstick sauté pan over medium heat, cook beef until almost done, then remove and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the pan, then cook broccoli florets and sliced onions for about 4 minutes until tender.
  • Return beef to the pan, add the prepared sauce, bring to a boil, and cook for 1 minute until slightly thickened. Serve with rice or noodles.

Notes

For a complete meal, serve the beef and broccoli with steamed rice or your favorite noodles.
